How long does a tank water heater last?
Tank water heaters typically last 8 to 12 years. Regular annual flushing and anode rod replacement can extend the lifespan toward the upper end of that range.
My tank is leaking. What should I do?
Turn off the water supply to the tank and the gas or electrical power. Call us immediately. A leaking tank almost always means replacement is needed since the inner tank cannot be repaired.
What size tank do I need?
For a family of 2, a 40 gallon tank is usually sufficient. Families of 3 to 4 typically need 50 gallons. Larger households or homes with high hot water demand may need 60 or 75 gallons. We assess your needs during the quote.
How much does a new water heater cost in the GTA?
A standard 50 gallon gas tank installation typically runs $1,800 to $2,800 in the GTA, including the tank, parts, labour, and disposal of the old unit. Prices vary by brand, size, and venting requirements.
Gas or electric tank: which is better?
Gas tanks heat water faster and cost less to run in Ontario. Electric tanks cost less upfront and install in more locations. We recommend gas when a gas line is available.
